Hello friends, it’s been a while since I last posted but I’m now back with some new research and proud to let you in on a few new things that I’ve learned on this journey to optimal health. As you all know, my daughter and husband have eczema, mostly on their legs and a few spots on their hands. Since keeping a food diary, we were able to find out that they were both sensitive to gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley and rye. While this may seem easy enough, the reality is it has been a nightmare trying to 100% eliminate it from a 3 year old’s diet. Let alone an adult male with a well established American diet. We have done an amazing job as parents substituting most things with rice and corn, however there are just some occasions that it finds its way to our plates.
So what are we supposed to do? What’s the answer to this dilemma? I haven’t figured it all out yet, but I now know that most, if not all skin issues including eczema have their root in the “gut”. How your digestion tract reacts after meals will tell you a lot about your internal health. The body’s ability to break down certain proteins can greatly affect your quality of life. Remember the old saying “ He has got a cast iron stomach”? Those individuals who have mastered the secret of creating the ideal environment for the good bacteria in their intestine will have an extreme advantage over those who constantly use energy to repair the body due to inflammation caused by the foods we eat.

So what are probiotics and how can they help? Probiotics are live microorganisms. They are the good bacteria found naturally in organic food. Generations before us, Like my grandparents who are in their 80s ate from food grown on their own land. They also consumed a large variety of fruits and vegetables that we are lacking in the food market today.
